Former Research Students

Zack Ziegler

[2010-2012] Zack worked as a high school sophomore and junior with me in the Straub lab at Boston University.  During his first summer, Zack helped me construct and simulate AOT reverse micelles of various composition.  In his seconds summer, Zack is continuing to his work as well as designing a model for ionic liquids.  Zack recently was accepted and plans to attend Cornell University.

Lani Rush, ’13, Boston University

[2009-2012] I taught Lani Rush in her first semester of her freshman year in Intensive General and Analytical Chemistry (CH111) at Boston University.  She joined the Straub Lab in the spring of 2010 and has been working with me.  She is developing a model of a nonionic surfactant for use in reverse micelles.  The goal is see how nonionic surfactants differ from more traditional ionic surfactants (e.g. AOT) and how this changes encapsulated protein dynamics.  Lani recently received full Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) funding for summer 2011 as well as the prestigious August Howe Buck Scholarship, a Boston University wide scholarship that pays full tuition.
